When I visited Shapotou, there is this one thing that I always long to try, the “Cableway Slide”! As I stood on the stand for preparation, the staffs carefully tightened the ropes for security. The second that I slid out of the cableway, I could feel the gravity was pushing me forward in a high speed. As stunning as it could be, the sandy dunes, the green oasis, and the Yellow River were beneath my feet! With the excellent scenery and flying experience, the Yellow River cableway slide was undoubtedly the highlight of the trip.
After doing the cableway slide, I took the cable car back on top of the hill. The journey of the cable car was smooth and relaxing. I was able to spend time watching other tourists doing desert activities and listening to laughs coming from all directions. As I arrived on the top, I was ready for my next challenge—sand slide. Sand slide seemed easy. There are two handles on each side of the slide to control speed. If the slide goes too fast, one just pulls the handles back to make it show down. However, the sand in Shapotou is very powdery. The slide is definitely not as easy to control as it sounds. My adrenalin was definitely working when I slid down the hill. As a matter of fact, my friends and I agreed that the sand slide was even more unnerving than the cableway slide. You wonder why? It is because no one wants to fall on the face!
